Tonelli Metropolis Ceramic Dining Table

The Tonelli Metropolis table is a contemporary dining table from Italy. Its top is ceramic/glass, and its base is built from sections of bonded glass. It suits dining rooms where the table is meant to be a focal point rather than a backdrop.

Design and construction

Metropolis Ceramic was designed by G. Maurizio Scutellà for Tonelli, an Italian maker known for glass furniture. The glass sections of the base are bonded together, so the support reads as a single sculptural form instead of a conventional leg frame. The ceramic/glass top carries a marble-look surface.

The top comes in round, square and rectangular shapes. The rectangular tables are offered with straight or curved edges, which lets you choose between a more architectural line and a softer outline.

FAQ

What is the Tonelli Metropolis Ceramic table made of?

The base is made from sections of bonded glass, and the top is ceramic/glass. Combining the two gives a table with a marble-look surface above a transparent base, so the table takes up less visual space in the room than its size suggests.

Who designed the Metropolis Ceramic dining table?

G. Maurizio Scutellà designed it, and Tonelli manufactures it in Italy.

What top shapes are available?

Round, square and rectangular tops are offered. Rectangular tables come with either straight or curved edges. The sizes listed above cover the rectangular and barrel top versions.

Is there a version with a glass top?

Yes. Tonelli also makes Metropolis with a purely glass top, for buyers who prefer a fully transparent look instead of a ceramic/glass surface. Contact us and we can point you to it.
