Designed by Odoardo Fioravanti Made in Italy

The Pedrali 2740 Babila chair is an Italian side chair with a polypropylene shell on a steel base. Its outline recalls a traditional wooden chair, reduced to a clean, minimalist seat. It suits dining rooms and offices, in homes and in contract settings.

Design and construction

Odoardo Fioravanti designed the Babila family for Pedrali, and the 2740 is the molded-plastic version on a metal base. The polypropylene shell gives the seat and back some flex for comfort, and the steel frame keeps the profile slim. Because the shell is plastic and the base is metal, the chair is easy to place next to wood, stone, or glass tables.

Pedrali was founded in 1963 and produces metal, plastic, and upholstered seating at its Mornico al Serio plant near Bergamo, Italy.

Where it fits

As a side chair, the 2740 works around a dining table, at a desk in a home office, or in a meeting room. It is one of many Pedrali chairs and part of the wider range of contemporary dining chairs and side chairs we carry.

FAQ

Who designed the Pedrali 2740?

Odoardo Fioravanti designed the Babila chair family for Pedrali. The 2740 is the polypropylene and steel model, with a silhouette that echoes a traditional wooden chair in a simpler, more modern form.

Is the 2740 suitable for commercial use as well as the home?

Yes. Pedrali positions the Babila 2740 for both residential and contract settings. That makes it a workable choice for dining areas, offices, and lounges, where one chair model can serve several rooms in the same project.

Can I order other chairs from the Babila range?

Yes. Babila includes side chairs, armchairs, and a stool, listed on this site. If you need a Pedrali model that is not shown, contact us and we can look at sourcing it.

Does Ultra Modern ship to the US for free?

Yes. Ultra Modern is a US-based business, and we offer free shipping to the contiguous US. The cost is already included in the price you see.

We also cover all duties and tariffs. Because we import every item under our own Tax ID, you never have to clear goods through customs yourself or provide your personal SSN, a hassle you may run into when buying from overseas retailers.
